LCT Auditions for 12 Angry Men

Twelve men are gathered in a closed room with a serious duty thrust upon them. They are the 12 men selected to decide the fate of a young man accused of stabbing his father. This life and death decision is to be made by people who have never met each other before. They were chosen for this civic duty from a pool of other men and women.

As 12 Angry Men opens, it appears that the jury is almost unanimous in their belief of guilt, but there is a sole juror who feels there is a reasonable doubt and that is all that is all it takes to set the young man free. Opinions differ, tempers flare, jurors waffle. Known only by their numbers, the controversy makes their personalities come full circle. Their discourse, agreements and disagreements make them 12 Angry Men.  This intense classic courtroom drama examines the inner workings of an electric case that could be happening in courtrooms across the nation.

12 Angry Men is adapted from the Emmy Award winning television drama by Reginald Rose, and because of its depth and excellence, it has be seen and remade by stars of our times many times over.

12 Angry Men is directed by Mary Lou Kelsey and assisted by Karen Gulotta.  There are roles available for 13 men of all ages. Although line loads vary, all 12 of the juror-actors are on stage during the entire play; there is one small role for a court attendant.  No preparation is necessary, readings will be made from the script.  LCT has a policy against pre-casting or promising roles.

Auditions will be held Sunday March 21 and Sunday March 22 at 7 p.m. at the Lebanon Community Theater, E. Maple Street in Stoever’s Dam Park.

Rehearsals times are Monday through Thursday at 6:30 or 7:00 p.m. and on Sundays at times to be decided by the cast and staff. Actors must be available for all performances.  The show runs May 6 – 16, 2010 with performances on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 and Sunday Matinees at 2:30.

For more information, call Mary Lou Kelsey at 274-0878 or Karen Gulotta at 507-0543.
