All is fair in love? Even murder? That's the question posed by this light and funny suspense comedy about a love triangle in a Howard Johnson Motor Inn. In the first episode, Mitchell, an obvious and commonplace dentist who sees himself as the dashing, heroic type and Arlene, a middle aged "Femme Fatale" of sorts, plan to murder her husband Paul, a blundering used car salesman. In the second episode, having discovered that Mitchell has been unfaithful, Arlene allies herself with Paul to do away with Mitchell. In the third episode, the two men, feeling foolish and betrayed themselves, join forces against Arlene. This murder attempt, like the others, fails.

Hi there. I’m Tom Roy, the director for “Murder At The Howard Johnson’s,” and I’m doubly excited to be bringing it into production at LCT. First and foremost, I was blessed to play the part of Paul back in the late 70s at Ephrata Playhouse In The Park, with my long-time pal Casey Allyn, morning show host on I-105 WIOV, and her husband John Weis. The show then, as it will be now, was so raucous and just plain nuts that we had to stop performing every night just to let the laughter die down.
Second, to have it produced at the esteemed Lebanon Community Theatre is something I have sought for years. In the past I’ve been in “Over The River And Through The Woods” and “M*A*S*H” (yes, as Frank Burns), and I’ve directed “Last Night Of Ballyhoo,” “The Innocents,” and “Plaza Suite.” As someone who works year round, for 14 years now, at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, and who is directly involved with both Theatre In The Mansion productions and numerous outdoor festivals, too, I work with professionals regularly, and, believe me, I’ve seen as much love of the craft at LCT as I’ve seen there, or even on major movie and TV sets.
